#238: Clear Your Mind (Peaceful Warrior)

Instructions:  Listen to the youtube video above and fill in the blanks in the transcript below (or write your answers on a piece of paper). Beginners can use the list of missing words and phrases, but if you're an advanced student, try to fill in the blanks just by listening to the video, without looking at the missing words and phrases.  The answers are given at the end of the lesson.

Main Features:  This lesson has two main features.  1) The word "to" can sound like "da".  You'll hear this sound twice in this video.  2) The phrase "out of" can sound something like "ah-da".  (See Lesson #235 for more.)

Missing Words and Phrases (3):  had to [had da]; out of [ah da]; to [da].

Soc! [1] Soc! Hey, listen. I totally forgot about this. Now I've got this thing at the gym. It's pretty important. Can we make this quick?
{He throws him into the water.}
Ahhh! Hey! Hey! I'm talking _____ you. What the hell is wrong with you?
You said you were in a hurry.
So you pushed me off the bridge?
I emptied your mind.
You what?
I emptied...
No, you didn't. You threw me into the river.
And while you were falling, tell me, Dan, what were you thinking about?
I don't know!
Were you thinking about school?
Grocery shopping?
This thing you ______ hurry off to?
Present, devoted 100% to the experience you were having. You even had a word for it: "Ahhh!"
You're ______ your mind, you know that? [2]
It's taken a lifetime of practice.

[1] Soc = Socrates, e.g., the name of the teacher who's standing on the bridge.
[2] You know that? = The full question is, "Do y
ou know that?" but native speakers often leave out the word "do" here.

1) to [da]
2) had to [had da]
3) out of [ah da]
