Getting a pizza delivered is a very American thing to do. And in most big cities, you can get lots of other food delivered to your door too.

It goes like this:

You call a restaurant. When they answer, you say, “Do you deliver?”

They might say “Yes.” Or they might say, “Where are you located?” Many places only deliver within certain parameters.

If they will deliver to you, you might want to ask, “Is there a delivery charge?” For pizza, there often isn’t, but for other types of cuisine, there might be.

Once you have ordered your food, ask how long it will take to get it.

When your food is delivered, it is customary to tip the delivery guy 10 to 20 percent.

Listen to Logan and Toby talk about the luxury of dining in.

Toby:  I was hanging out at a friend’s the other night, Sunday night. We were just drinking cocktails in the backyard and we got hungry so we ordered a pizza, which is something I rarely do.

Logan:  Really?

Toby:  And when the pizza got there we were just talking about what a luxury it is to pick up the phone, call somebody, tell ‘em what you want and they bring it to your house.

Logan:  It’s the laziness factor, which I like. I, I can’t tell you how many times, when I was a little bit younger, when we were watching football on Sundays. And everyone’s just sitting around on the couch, a little… not feeling too good from the night before. Like, I’m starving. But none of us want to get up off our rear ends. We wanna sit there and have something delivered to us. And pizza always pops into your head. I mean, why not?

Toby:  I know. And it’s amazing if you go some place like New York, there… I… you know, I’ve read stories of people who never leave their apartments. You can get amazing Indian, Thai, Chinese delivered to your apartment.

Logan:  It’s that urban setting where, like, just everything’s delivered. It’s amazing.

Toby:  Is it like that other big cities in the world?

Discussion

Toby and Logan agree that getting food delivered to your house is pretty luxurious.

When Logan says “not feeling too good from the night before,” he means they had gotten drunk and were hung over.

Do you ever get pizza delivered to your house? What about other kinds of food?

Yes, we get pizza delivered from  time to time to  our office, when  there is a lot of work to do and we have to stay there till the late evening. Also I have ordered cakes for a home party, as I dont like to bake them by myself. Food delivery is very common in my city  , and sushi are no less popular  than pizza  for dining in.

I get food delivered to my house when I am so lazy to go out or my son wants some Mcdonald’s, but yes, my location can not be too far, needs to be within certain parameters. The food is often snacks. We still need to go to restaurants to enjoy the dishes.
