Hi Friends!
Playing video games is a popular pastime for children and adults. A recent study from Pew Internet Research found that 70 percent of college students in the U.S. play video games at least once in a while. Whether on a computer or a game console like XBOX, Sony Playstation or Nintento Gamecube, millions of people are playing video games all over the world.
Adam is an avid video game player. Listen in to his conversation with Beth to hear about his game-playing habits.

Beth: Hey Adam, do you have any plans for tonight?
Adam: I sure do.
Beth: What’s going on?
Adam: Well, after work, I’m going to go to school, and then after school I’ll go home and work on some projects.
Beth: That sounds like a lot of work and projects. What about for fun? Are you doing anything exciting?
Adam: Yeah. Actually I’m probably going to play about an hour or two’s worth of Quake 2.
Beth: What’s Quake? Is that like, um, a video game, or…?
Adam: Yes – where you basically run through and you try to capture your enemy’s flag.
Beth: So, do you play online, or is it like a CD?
Adam: Yes. I play online on a server that’s located in the Midwest.
Beth: So, do you play against other people, and stuff like that? Is it interactive?
Adam: It’s totally interactive, and everybody plays from just about anywhere.
Beth: Cool. So do you meet people and stuff, and play against the same people once, or, multiple times?
Adam: I’ve been playing since 1996, and I’ve been playing against a lot of the same people.
Beth: I bet you’re really good.
Adam: Yes. Yes I am.

Discussion
I have to admit, I’m not a big video game fan. I’ve never played Quake and I don’t own any of the video game machines. However, I do have some friends who are into playing video games. They usually play on their computers, late at night, against other players from around the world.
You probably know more about video games than I do, so I won’t bore you with any more of my thoughts about them!
Have a great week!
