Bath or shower: it is one of the great topics of debate, right up there with cats vs. dogs and boxers vs. briefs. People who only take showers think baths don’t really get you clean. And bathers swear that there is nothing more relaxing than a nice long soak in the tub.

No matter what camp they belong to, everyone seems to have his or her own strict routine when it comes to getting clean. Find out which side of the debate Marni and Jeff are on.

Marni:  Gosh, I feel great. I just took an hourlong soak in the tub, and my skin is all pruney, but I feel great.

Jeff:  Wait, you take baths?

Marni:  Yeah, I take baths. So relaxing. What about you, you don’t take baths?

Jeff:  I don’t think I’ve taken a bath since I was five years old.

Marni:  Really? How come? Are you just dedicated to showers? You don’t have the time, you don’t like to relax?

Jeff:  Lately it’s been a time thing. But it’s kinda gross.

Marni:  Gross, why?

Jeff:  You’re soaking in your own dead disgusting bath water…dead skin…

Marni:  So you don’t feel like you’re clean as a whistle when you take a bath, you feel like you have to take a shower?

Jeff:  Yeah.

Marni:  ‘Cause I personally feel that you can get clean and relax at the same time. I think it’s totally worth it.

Jeff:  That’s a valid point. I like showers for the same reason, though. The sound is soothing in its own way. But baths, I don’t know. I…

Marni:  Not a believer.

Jeff:  Not a fan.

Marni:  OK, well, let’s just agree to disagree.

Marni loves taking baths. She finds it very relaxing. But Jeff is not a fan of baths. He says he hasn’t taken a bath since he was a little kid. Most kids only take baths.

In Jeff’s opinion, baths take too much time. Plus, he thinks baths are a little gross. He doesn’t like the idea of sitting in a tub of water that you have made dirty. Jeff thinks that showers can be just as relaxing as baths.

Do you prefer taking showers or baths? Why? What is more common in your country?

In France most of people prefer to take a shower. It,s much faster than taking a bath. Moreover, taking a bath, even it's relaxing, is really bad regarding the "water ratio". The amount of water used to clean just one person is totally crazy and it is not reasonable as the water will be more and more a crucial problem all over the world. Many french people think that, like pollution made by cars, we should be reasonable with the amount of water we use.

In my home we have two baths but we don't use it anymore. Moreover, I think taking a bath for too long will make you to feel sleepy for all day.

Here in Brazil we don´t take bath usually, but when we stay in a hotel at the mountains  first thing we ask is: Is there a bath in the room? We think it´s funny and relaxing but we are not used to due to our warm weather.

I prefer taking showers than bath because it's more quickly, especially the morning when you don't have enough time to take it. More than that, it's also more ecological because you don't use as water as for a bath. And the last reason, probably the best one, is I don't have bath in my house… _

ps: sorry for mistakes but it's my first post in english ;)

I prefer taking showers and I don't think that baths will make me RELAX. After a hard working day, I'll relax by swimming if I can but not baths .. :)

lying down in a tub is making no sense to me. Maybe I'll do that  for my skin by using some salt or something but not for relaxing.

I think it depends on moods in general but in my country, most people are from the middle class who have small tubs. So, soaking in these tubs is really really making no sense lol.
