It happens every 4 years, like clockwork.
Sometimes, though, we forget if it’s leap year or not. That’s what happened to Steph.

Derek

Steph:  Hey Derek, is next Tuesday February 29th or March 1st?

Derek:  I think it’s March 1st this year.

Steph:  Oh really? Yeah. I think you’re right cause last year I think was our leap year.

Derek:  Oh, ok. Yeah I had a, my grandfather was born on leap year.

Steph:  Really? A friend of mine was born on leap year too. That’s what makes me think that it was last year cause she celebrates only, ya know, once every four years.

Derek:  That must be kind of interesting, not being able to celebrate every year.

Steph:  I know. Well, ya know, it makes that one birthday every four years kinda special.

Derek:  That is true.

Steph:  That’s cool. Well, I guess that’s one less day this year, so one day closer to Christmas.

Derek:  Sounds good to me.

Discussion

It would suck to have your birthday on leap year, but it wouldn’t suck all the time. Think about it, you’d never have to actually turn 30. You’d have a 28th birthday and a 32nd birthday, but no big 30th birthday party with all the cheesy gifts that come along with it.
just think about all the fun you could have when you do have a birthday. It’s a great excuse to have a party every four years. And, hey, since you don’t have birthdays every year like most people, you might just get hooked up with cooler gifts.
What do you think?
