One of the best things about summertime is the good weather. Of course, the summer weather is only good in places where it’s usually cold in the winter. For example, in places where it’s relatively warm all year, like Houston, Texas or Miami, Florida, the summer can be miserable. Temperatures can regularly be near a hundred degrees and humidity is often high, making it very uncomfortable to be outside.
If you’re in a place where the summer weather is intensely hot, it’s extremely important to stay hydrated. Actually, it’s important to stay hydrated no matter where you are and what time of year it is.
What’s the best way to stay hydrated? It’s easy. Just drink lots of water!

Two major factors can play a role in how hydrated you are: the temperature and your activity level. For example, if it’s really hot or if you are exercising very intensely, you will sweat. When you sweat, your body is losing water. If you lose too much water, it can be hazardous to your health.
Being dehydrated can have a negative effect on your heart, as well as other bodily organs. In fact, if you lose just 1-2% of your body weight by sweating, you’re body and your brain may start losing its ability to perform normally.

The best thing about hydration is that it’s easy. All you have to do is drink water. However, it’s important to remember that thirst is not a good way to gauge your hydration level. If you feel really thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. So, be sure to drink lots of water every day!
Stay cool!
