Jen

Steph:  Did you fly out here when you came out, Jen?

Jen:  No. I didn’t fly. I don’t like to fly.

Steph:  Why not?

Jen:  Oh. I, I get so nervous. My hands start sweating, and then I start shaking. And I just wanna jump out of the plane. I don’t like to fly.

Steph:  Really? Well, they say, ya know, if you get really nervous, they say that you should, um, maybe take a pill or something. You can go to your doctor and get a pill that he’ll give you, or she’ll give you. And it’ll make you go to sleep.

Jen:  Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ve heard about the motion sickness pills. And I’ve tried ‘em, but nothing works. I think it’s probably just all in my head. But, nonetheless, I like to drive, so.

Steph:  Well that’s even better I guess.

Jen:  Yeah.

Steph:  It’s a good solution for you.

Jen:  Exactly.

Discussion

I guess that Jen has a strategy for dealing with her flying anxiety. Are you a nervous flyer, too? What do you do about it when you get nervous? I usually love to fly but sometimes my palms start sweating or shaking and I get really nervous. I find that the best thing to do when I get nervous is to get a glass of ice water and drink it. I also like to close my eyes and imagine myself on an island somewhere, sipping my ice water and not worrying about anything at all.
Have a great weekend!
Steph
