Tanis:  So, Joe, have you seen Planet of the Apes yet?

Joe:  No, I haven’t, I’m excited though.

Tanis:  What do you know about it?

Joe:  Boy, all I know so far is that there’s wonderful costumes and it’s the same Planet of the Apes story that was out back in the 60s where…

Tanis:  Right!

Joe:  ...Charlton Heston played the star?

Tanis:  Right and now that’s Marky Mark or I guess he wants to be called Mark Wahlberg now! (Laughs)

Joe : (Laughs) Oh no. Yeah, I, that’s all I really know about it,but I really hope the movie cuts the mustard. I have a lot of expectations.

Tanis:  Yeah, I think it’s supposed to be awesome. I saw a special on MTV about it and ah, they have all this different information on how they made the movie and the costumes. The makeup is amazing. They had the makeup guy showing how he designed different facial characteristics for all the different characters so that their personalities could come through.

Joe:  Wow.

Tanis:  It was crazy.

Joe:  That’s incredible.

Tanis:  Yeah, it really was it. It looks really interesting. I’m, I’m totally intrigued.

Tanis:  Yeah it really was it. It looks really interesting. I’m, I’m totally intrigued.

Discussion

I watched the original “Planet of the Apes” a few years ago. I didn’t expect much because it is such a huge science fiction cult movie, but I was very impressed by the story. I found it interesting how the apes ruled the earth. It was shocking how the apes treated the humans and to realize that is how we treat animals in our own world. Now I’m not a big fan of Charlton Heston, if any of you have watched “Solient Green”, I think you understand, but I found the original movie interesting to watch.
Compared to the original, Tim Burton’s version of “Planet of the Apes” will have more elaborate costumes and make-up. Some of the actors were even trained to walk like apes and other monkeys for this film. It sounds like a fun film to watch!
Have you seen “Planet of the Apes”? Which did you like, the original or Tim Burton’s? Let us know at the “Movie Madness” messages boards.
See you at the movies,
Nedra
