The German newspaper ‘GEA’ says that this week 2.500 pigs got burned alive when a feed-lot in Kolbow (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/ Germany) caught fire. Also the material damage was immense. Luckily no human beings were hurt.

The German Ministry for the Safety of Food (Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit) now warns about the following products:
>ground pork produced by ‘Gut Erkenloh Fleischvertriebs GmbH’ as it may contain listeria,
>barn eggs produced by Sonnendorfer GmbH as they may contain salmonella,
>damse mokke (cheese) and brie produced by Damse Kaasmakerij, both of which may contain listeria.

‘Agrarheute’ says that a globally-active Dutch enterprise now sold pig and cattle food that contained waste products. Also some feed lots bought this food. The remains of the rotten waste-products this food contained were visible in blood testing done on these animals.

Ovo Vertriebs GmbH is a company that supplies the German supermarket chains Penny- and Rewe with sausage. Now they warn customers about consuming those of their sausages with the best before dates of
February 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and any best before date between January 15th and January 24th. They may contain pieces of metal or plastic.

‘Agrarheute’ says that in a slaughterhouse in Cloppenburg in Lower-Saxony in Germany three out of 96 workers now suffer from tuberculosis due to not having cared enough about hygiene while dealing with meat.
