Hey Friends!
Well, did you all enjoy your short week? Did you do something fun because you had a long weekend?
Last week Brett and I had a talk about what our plans were for Memorial Day Weekend, which always seems to be the unofficial beginning of Summer to me!

Tanis

Brett: So what are you doing for Memorial Day Tanis?

Tanis: Oh, I’m so glad you asked! I’m going on a boating party.

Brett: Where are you going to.. I mean.. Is that going to be in the river or.. Where do you go to go boating?

Tanis: Yeah, it’s on the Columbia, and we’ve done this the last couple of years with the same group. But, um, there’s this group of people I’m friends with and several of them have boats. And, um, we always have like, a barbeque on Government Island, and then whoever wants to wakeboards and skis and… It’s fun! If the weather is nice we’ll do it!

Brett: What’s wakeboarding?

Tanis: God, I’m probably the worst person to tell you, since I’ve only done it a couple of times… But, um, basically it’s sort of this hybrid between, uh, water skiing and surfing and it’s like, uh, you’re on a, a flat board that’s, uh, skims, kind of, the surface of the water, that you stand on, and, and uh, you can do all kinds of really cool tricks. So, it’s, it’s kind of fun and it’s really popular right now!

Brett: Oh, that sounds like a fun weekend really, I mean, being out on the boat and barbequeing and going out on the island.. I mean, you’re going to have a good time!

Tanis: I’m pretty stoked!

Discussion

I know Memorial Day has already taken place, but it is still fun to listen to how friends typically talk about their plans. One thing that is a little bit difficult about our conversation above is the way both Brett and I speak in long, run-on sentences. This is not gramatically correct, but when friends are casually speaking it is a common occurence.
